DATABASE CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION AND MANAGEMENT
It is common for PRP groups to coalesce as a working entity and simultaneously launch work on two fronts. First, the PRPs will need to work technical issues and we have described our capabilities at the Passaic River Services section of this site. Second and equally importantly, historical records will need to be integrated into a site database which may be used to understand and analyze such parameters as comparative operational years of local facilities, facilities throughputs and waste discharges, types and volumes of wastes generated, and the facilities nexus to the current multi-party environmental problem.Project Navigator has considerable experience in developing, using and maintaining databases for multiparty PRP groups. We also have the capabilities to cross-reference GIS databases, containing site impact information, with the database that can be developed from a facility-by-facility waste analysis. Databases we have developed have also helped PRP groups arrive at an early interim allocation. All our work is performed in-house with our own environmental project professionals working with a database expert and an Internet professional to insure that the database can be securely reviewed online.
Our database construction capabilities are a subset of
our more encompassing Information
Management Services, where we assist PRPs catalog previous
site information making it amenable to data mining efforts. We can also
maintain any PRP database on our own server at www.projectoolbox.com.

At the Ascon Landfill State
Superfund Site in Huntington Beach, CA, we reviewed 10,000+
pages and built a waste-in database, in a period of 4 months, for
a PRP group that was simultaneously wrestling with remedy selection
and project cost issues. |
 Databasing |
While building an allocation database
for a Louisiana project, we extracted information
from 400,000+ waste handling records, over a 2-month timeframe using
up to 30 temporarily retained data entry personnel. Project Navigator
assembled the labor pool and was responsible for database structure,
utility and quality control. We currently provide advice to the
multiparty group on how to use the database, on an as-needed basis. |

We built and maintain an online project
information database for the Honolulu Harbor PRP group.
The database includes site characterization information and historical
records from the scores of land parcels that comprise the harbor
site. We operate this database from our own online system at www.projectoolbox.com. |
 Site Evaluation Product |
While working as the PRPs Project Coordinator at the El Monte Superfund Site, CA, we used GIS techniques combined with Vista reports and possible release information (e.g. historical aerials showing prior land use) to build a site information database. The database was used to compare present day aquifer impacts with prior surface activities and build a case for bringing more PRPs into the group. |
